Experience fairy tale collectors and linguists Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm in this fascinating world of knowledge and discovery.

You can visit us from Tuesday to Sunday as well as on all Hessian public holidays (except New Year’s Day).

Who is entitled to free or reduced admission?

Free admission for …

  • children under the age of 6
  • Necessary accompanying person to severely disabled persons (entry B)
  • Holders of the cultural ticket of the University of Kassel, the Meine Card+, museum card of the German Museums Association, or the ICOM membership card

Reductions for ...

  • children and young people under 18 years

  • senior citizens over 65 years
  • severely disabled persons
  • Federal Volunteers, FSJ Volunteers, and Volunteers for Military Service

The proof of entitlement must be presented at the box office or at the entrance.

Who counts as a family?

A family is defined as a maximum of two parents with their children or two grandparents with their grandchildren. The children or grandchildren must be under 18 years of age.

General remark:
The GRIMMWELT is located in the area of a garden monument, which is to be protected from additional traffic. Please understand that we therefore recommend that you use public transport.

On foot

Follow the signposted route from the underground car park Friedrichsplatz.

City centre route

By bicycle

Follow the cycle paths to the city centre and Rathaus (town hall), then to Weinberg (signs to GRIMMWELT).

By local public transport

With RegioTram or tram to Rathaus (town hall) or Rathaus / Fünffensterstraße, then follow the signs on foot (about 7 min.)

By train

From the Intercity railway station Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe

Take tram number 1, 3 or 4 in the direction of the city centre to Rathaus (town hall), then follow the signs on foot (about 7 min.)

From Kassel central station Hauptbahnhof

Take RegioTram 3, 4 or 5 to Rathaus / Fünffensterstraße (town hall), then follow the signs on foot (about 7 min.)

With a coach

Coach stop

There is a coach stop at the Brüder-Grimm-Platz (destination for a navigation device), then follow the signs to GRIMMWELT on foot (about 4 min.)

Parking

Coaches are not allowed to park at the GRIMMWELT exhibition centre.

Parking facilities for coaches exist at the Natural History Museum / Ottoneum on the Papinplatz (enter in navigation device), about 15 mins. on foot from the GRIMMWELT.

By car

Visitors to the GRIMMWELT get a discount for the use of the underground car park Friedrichsplatz. Follow the signs to Kassel Zentrum or Innenstadtring, then to the underground car park Friedrichsplatz (destination for navigation device: Tiefgarage Friedrichsplatz).

Then follow the signposted route on foot:

Park + Ride

P+R car park at Damaschkestraße next to Auestadion stadium (destination for navigation device: Damaschkestraße 2, Kassel).

Then follow the signposted route to the tram stop Auestadion (about 4 min.). Take Tram number 5, 6 or RegioTram 5 towards the city centre to Rathaus (town hall), then follow the signposted route on foot to the GRIMMWELT.

Audio Guide

You can call up interesting and exciting content for the stations of the permanent exhibition “von Ä wie ÄRSCHLEIN to Z wie ZETTEL” – either as an audio guide to listen to or as a media and reading guide.

TIP: Bring your own device!

Download the GRIMMWELT app at home on your smart phone free of charge (available for IOS & Android). Please use headphones to play the audio at the exhibition.

Shop

Here you will find (almost) everything you could want to take home as a memento or give to someone special.

Of course, we carry Grimms’ Fairy Tales in various editions for readers or listeners both young and old. You can also purchase the in-house publications of GRIMMWELT in the shop. For the current special exhibition, we offer a thematically coordinated special assortment for the duration of the exhibition. You will also find biographies and literature on the Brothers Grimm, their family, and their work as well as fiction, travel guides, and original souvenirs.
