Special Exhibition
From November 30, 2024, GRIMMWELT Kassel will be presenting the work of Berlin artist Alexej Tchernyi in a new special exhibition.
With his dioramas on the history of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm's "German Dictionary", he has been represented in the permanent exhibition since the opening of the GRIMMWELT in 2015. With his work made of paper and light, the artist succeeds in conveying the eventful and complex history of the Grimm dictionary project in an artistically impressive way and with a wealth of detail. For the GRIMMWELT, this special exhibition is an opportunity to draw a connection to the 10th anniversary next year.
Alexej Tchernyi's first major solo exhibition will include five new paper dioramas dealing with the creation of the "Children's and Household Tales" as well as other works by the artist, such as his relief sculptures and films.
With this project, the GRIMMWELT is continuing its unique concept of combining historical themes and contemporary works of art.
The exhibition is generously supported by the documenta Stadt Kassel, the district of Kassel, the Kasseler Sparkassenstiftung and the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen-Thüringen.
