Kulturpreis Deutsche Sprache

The award “Kulturpreis Deutsche Sprache” is the most generously endowed prize for the German language. It is awarded annually in Kassel by the foundation “Eberhard-Schöck-Stiftung” and the language association “Verein Deutsche Sprache e.V.” in order to promote the preservation and creative development of the German language. In the spirit of the Brothers Grimm, who spent their most productive years in Kassel, an independent jury honours personalities, groups and institutions for outstanding contributions which served to encourage the use of the German language and its further development. The "Jacob Grimm Prize” is awarded in memory of the life and work of the famous linguist and fairy tale collector, who made particular efforts to ensure that German was recognized, developed and cultivated as a cultural language.
